Not surprisingly, we push and promote sustainability wherever we can as an NC State Park, so that our beauty can be enjoyed for generations to come. And part of that effort is protection for our flora, fauna + features which takes the work of not just us, but important conservation partners and various partner connections.

Mountain lore has it that back in the day farmers would burn their fields to clear the land on Burntshirt Mountain for planting. They tossed their shirts in the fire for good luck and the fields yielded a bountiful crop! The legend lives on to this day on the majestic land that is now Burntshirt Vineyards, a family-run wine company with a dedication to craftsmanship spanning 80 years. What started primarily as a grape growing operation evolved into the idea of a winery when owners Lemuel and Sandra Oates, recognizing the quality of their fruit and the opportunity to be a part of the thriving North Carolina wine industry, decided to embark on production of their own premium, estate wines. And just like their textile business which was founded on hand-crafted souvenirs and loomed rugs, the Oates family of Hendersonville, North Carolina remains true to the spirit of producing high quality products with wines of unique character for all who visit their beloved community to enjoy.
Basic Brewery was formed in 2015. Our idea is simple, serve Western North Carolina's best local beer and our own delicious handmade beers. At Basic Brewery we feel that the focus should be on making great beer. Simple right? While it seems improbable just ask yourself....did the best cookies you ever had come from a million + dollar factory or did they come from a home kitchen? The same is true for beer. Some of the best beers out there come from local homebrewers brewing on the kitchen stove or handcrafting home brewed goodness on turkey fryers in their garages. Come in and give us a try. Hopefully you will discover what makes small handcrafted products truly extraordinary!

Brevard Brewing Company – Brevard, NC
The world of beer is increasingly one of two extremes. While large macro-breweries compete to produce the lightest, most flavorless, adjunct laden beers possible, craft breweries strive to out-do one another by making each beer hoppier, bolder, and stronger than the next. At Brevard Brewing Company, we have set out to give beer lovers the best of both worlds – beer that is both drinkable and flavorful. We are the only brewery in Western North Carolina to specialize in lagers.
